Ok so to confuse things slightly.technically a USB mixer IS an audio interface however for this section I am comparing a USB mixer and dedicated audio recording interface. Audio Interface. An audio interface basically acts as an external soundcard. Whether you need to connect a phone line to a PA system, or bring a caller into a podcast, the requirements are the same. If you want to have a meaningful conversation with the caller, you will need a phone interface with line echo cancellation and a Mix-Minus connection to your audio mixer. With your audio interface connected please navigate to the Audio Mixer Mix/Aux Click the Settings button (small gear cog symbol) Properties. Click the dropdown menu next to Device, and select your audio interface. In this example, we are using a Scarlett USB Interface and will select Focusrite USB as the device.

Connecting Mixer To Audio Interface
Hi - I’ve been using Loopy for a while and it works perfectly. Today I tried setting it up through an audio interface with microphone and headphones (eventually I want to use that interface to connect it to a PA system). However, loopy keeps using the iPad speakers and not run through the interface. (Zoom U24). Is loopy not recognizing my interface? Or is there a setting I need to change?

Using Mixer With Audio Interface
Copying my email to you here for posterity, @diane123:
Can you tell me what happens when the U-24 is connected? I take it the audio input is still coming from the microphone, and output is still going through the device speaker? That would indicate to me perhaps a problem with the cable, if not the U-24 itself. Also try rebooting the device, just in case. Let me know if you have further trouble.

i am having the same issue. I am new to Loopy HD and would also like to incorporate it into my live shows. I am just starting to set it up. I am using a Behringer Xenyx X1832 USB mixer. I have connected my iPad 2 to the mixer using a female-female USB coupler in between the factory iPad lighting connecter and a USB cable to the mixer. Input comes through great from the mixer to the iPad, but playback comes through the speakers of the iPad instead of through the mixer. The USB cable I am using from the mixer to the coupler is rather old, though I am not sure if this would make a difference. Any help much appreciated. Thanks!
I realized that no audio at all was coming from the mixer, either in our out, so I scrapped the last connection, bought an official apple lightning to USB camera adapter and a new USB 2.0 cable. Plugged it in and my previously recorded audio now comes through the mixer on playback, but now it will not register any input from any channel from the mixer.
@PAPI I believe the X1832USB only sends and receives the main input/output over USB. This is a limitation of how the X1832 was designed, so you aren't able to isolate a specific channel to go to Loopy. Only the main output from the mixer gets sent to Loopy.
